杜甫《望岳》诗，共有三首，分咏东岳（泰山）、南岳（衡山）、西岳（华山）。这一首是东岳泰山。开元二十四年（736），二十四岁的诗人开始过一种“裘马清狂”的漫游生活。此诗即写于北游齐、赵（今河南、河北、山东等地）时，是现存杜诗中年代最早的一首，字里行间洋溢着青年杜甫那种蓬蓬勃勃的朝气。

《望岳》
岱宗夫如何，齐鲁青未了。
造化钟神秀，阴阳割昏晓。
荡胸生层云，决眦入归鸟。
会当凌绝顶，一览众山小。

“会当凌绝顶，一览众山小”，这最后两句，写由望岳而产生的登岳的意愿。

“会当” 是唐人口语，意即“一定要”。
