世纪之交的时候，把中国与印度放到一起比较，成为全球谈论的一个热门话题。美国《外交》杂志2006年7/8月号的封面报道是《印度崛起》，共有四篇文章，其中三篇谈论印度崛起对全球战略的影响，第一篇《印度模式》则讨论印度过去20多年经济增长的基本路径。历史上，中国和印度均为世界四大文明古国之一。今天，中印两国在很多禀赋上仍比较相似：人口众多、国土面积辽阔：更重要的是两国均为21世纪发展速度最快的发展中国家之一。也正因为如此，两国具有很强的可比性。同时，中国和印度两国在发展经济的过程中，面临很多相似的问题，但是印度和中国的解决方式却截然不同，而这巨大的差距意味着其中有着许多可以借鉴和相互学习的广大空间。20世纪中后期以来，中印两国的对外贸易都得到了较快的发展，但是贸易模式却有很大的差距。本文试图通过比较分析中国和印度贸易模式的异同，力求发掘我国对外贸易模式的可提升空间，探索我国的国际贸易强国之路。
