请教90年4月GRE中两道题

5、主句是Actual events are accidental，前一个空格找accidental的同义词，后面一个找accidental的反义词（因为有个yet），前面那个选DE都ok，只是后面那个空的问题，E是理性的，D是唯一的，我个人感觉唯一的对应偶然的不太准确，偶然出现存在一种机会性和运气在里面，是不能用理性思考得到的，选E会更加合适。如果是唯一的，那么偶然出现的这种机会性得不到对应，所以不够明确。

35、查韦氏字典
refutation： the act or process of refuting
refute：
1 : to prove wrong by argument or evidence : show to be false

approval：to accept as satisfactory

verification：
1 : to confirm or substantiate in law by oath
2 : to establish the truth, accuracy, or reality of *verify the claim*

refutation可以说是通过证明发现它是错的；而verification是通过证明说它是对的，对应反义。approval因为满意而接受它是对的。

第一题：in that 是同义重复的标志词，后接从句应该是与accidental广义的同义词，possibility正好满足，有一种不确定的含义，与accidental有关。happening在这里是个中性词，与题干没什么关系，GRE的填空题不是读得通就是对的，这一点切记！
第二题：refute——prove the falsity or error of(a statement etc. or the person)
verification——the process of an instance of establishing the truth of validity of something
你不觉得falsity和truth对应的很整齐么？
