Socrates wrote nothing. Most of what we know about him has been preserved by three of his famous younger contemporaries, Aristophanes, Xenophon, and, most improtantly, Plato. From these sources Socrates emerges as an intense genius who, along with extraordinary rational rigor, possessed a personal warmth and a fondness for humor.
