It all depends. If the text book will not be modified in recent 3 or 5 years( that rarely happened actually) and the graduates who don't want to keep their text books, it could be a good idea to save the resources and the note taken in the book may help the followers better understandment. However, it doesn't always happen like that.
Firstly, it is common that the text book changes every one or two years according to the examination system. Therefore, leaving the text book is of nonsense.
Secondly, every student has his own way of studying and all the information given by each teacher is not always the same, which causes different notetaking. As a result, the note left by the former graduate student could confuse the followers and make some mistakes. Woresely, it may have bad influence on their preparation for the college entrance exam, as they have no time to adjust themselves for the new way of thinking.
