Why:
The Indian tectonic plate crushed into the Eurasian tectonic plate, which made the Qinghai-Tibetan plateau grow high. Crustal material slowly moved to the East through the Longmenshan fault. The strong crust of the Sichuan basin went against it. The Earthquake then finally occurred in the town of Ying Xiu because of the huge pressure produced.
