be famous for 因、、、、而出名
例：the city is famous for having hold the Olympic Games.
the writer is famous for this novel.

be famous of 也可指：因、、、而出名，但是在平常不用，例：it is famous of the interest of the places. the city is famous of Lunxun's hometown.

严格说来，这两个词不用区分，因为考试也不会考。平常用的话就用be famous for.

Hangzhou is famous for xihu.
Shaoxing is fomous of Luxun.
