这句是把直接引语改为间接引语
实际上，这句话的直接引语原来是
He asked me， “what is the matter?”
因为主句和从句时态要统一，所以，改间接引语时，把is改为了was

He asked me what the matter was?
如果这句话把me去掉，就对了
因为把me去掉后，ask引导的是宾语从句，后面的宾语从句式陈述句形式
在ask和宾语从句之间，that可加可不加，但不可以加别的单词

这是我自己的理解，满详细的，可以追加吗？

特殊疑问句变从句是
1，将非相关do的助动词放在主语后，这里的what就是从句的主语，
2，将do,did,does 去掉，后面动词改成与do,did,does匹配的形式

what was the matter本身就是陈述语序，不必改变
同样的还有what was the wrong

“what was the matter” 主+谓+宾 陈述语序
同 He told me it was wrong 中“it was wrong” 主谓宾结构

就是He asked me what the matter was啊.

这里the matter是主语,was是谓语,用陈述语序,所以是主+谓

这是我们老师说的.

如果是He asked me,"what is wrong?"

那应该是He asked me what was wrong.

因为这句what是主语,wrong是形容词,..
