Allen’s Regrets
Allen’s father was severely crippled in his left leg. He had a job in a subway station far from home. Allen had to send his father to and pick him up from the nearby subway station everyday. When they walked together, his father would put his hands on Allen’s arm for balance, saying “you set the pace, and I’ll try to adjust to you”. At that time, Allen always felt embarrassed; he even didn’t want to been seen with his father. But several years ago, his father died. He suddenly knew he should have cherished the days with father, and he shouldn’t have felt embarrassed for being with his father. He told me, “You can’t imagine how sorry I am after I lost him. But I could never tell him that. ”
