本次设计通过收集各国、各地区小冰箱的流行样式和流行色专业研究提供的资料，如时装杂志、造型杂志、流行色卡、流行花色、预测资料等，从而了解各国、各地区人民的生活状况和生活动向。进而设计一款艺术和技术相结合，功能和形式相结合，宏观和微观相结合的小冰箱。
在设计风格方面本设计没有从单方面着手，比如像德国的简洁、耐用、环保等。意大利的前卫，具有文化和人文性，日本的短、小、轻、薄，环保，节能等。美国的“功能追随形式”。而是把它们各个设计风格进行分析、综合，运用设计方法学中的还原法则，对某一主要功能进行重点设计，从而设计一款真真符合现在这个时期的一款小冰箱。
本文首先从现有的产品出发，在调研的基础之上，对市场上存在的同类产品做了详尽的评价与分析，从而发现问题并提出解决问题的最佳方案，然后进入设计构思，并以此来确定本次毕业设计的最终方案，完成效果图和模型。
