随着我国医疗卫生事业的发展，人们生活质量的提高，医院的手术是越来越多，亲人被送进手术室，家属只能在紧闭的门外焦急而无助的等待，他们应该受到我们更多的关注；同时医院的教学、科研和学术交流任务变得越来越多，许多医院每年担负着大量的教学、科研和学术交流工作。手术观摩是学生重要的实践课程，但由于手术室的空问较小，为了不影响医生的手术，这样在每次手术过程中最多也只能够安排2～3名学生观摩，不能够满足大量学生的手术观摩需求，并且同一案例的手术也不能够保证在一段时间内都有，很难做到一些特殊案例能够安排学生及时观摩。此外，近年来发展迅速的微创外科技术使得在心脏介入、神经介入、血管介入手术的学术研讨和交流变得越来越频繁，这些领域经常举办一些网上会诊和大型学术会议，都要求有手术表演的平台。根据国内外的调查，在手术室播放一些轻柔的音乐也有助于手术气氛和手术的成功率，同时根据当前的医患关系，建立手术室的实时监控跟录像的保存也显得非常重要。因此，建立手术室电视终端系统，实现视频、音频的播放，手术现场的录像保存就显得非常必要，它既可以用于手术的实时监控和录像保存，也可以缓解手术氛围帮助家属缓解紧张焦急情绪，还可以用于远程教学和网上会诊。
