why do you think it was peaceful while the French and others on the Continent had to go through violent revolutions to bring about change? Was it geography, disposition, tradition, religion or something entirely different that kept England's political evolution peaceful and gradual?

Considering modern day governments, why do some find themselves embroiled in violent political disputes while others maintain their governments while allowing peaceful change and disagreement? What could those that are still violent learn from the history of Britain?
