see，find等动词的主语有时是物，如果用得恰当，语言会显得很生动。
如：This old house has been better days.这座老房子曾有过风光的日子。
National Day saw people singing and dancing happily in the streets.国庆节里人们在大街上高兴地唱啊跳啊。
The water finds its own level.水往低处流。
Morning found Christie knitting by the window.清晨里克里斯蒂坐在窗边织毛衣。

主语是物或时间都可以。动词Witnessed 也可以。但是其他的动词就不一定了，不清楚的情况下最好不要用。再举个我常写的例子，Recent years have saw the great changes taken place in China.注意这里与see ...do...;see doing的语法不矛盾，后面当名词看。
这个句子很灵活的，你举的例子已经涵盖了很多方面，象以上那样的情况都可以用啊。议论文可以用时间做主语，引出争论或者话题，记叙文可以用National Day saw people singing and dancing happily in the streets；The house witnessed the crime之类的话。
通常情况下在文学作品里较为常见,通常书写时并不常见.
