An irrevocable documentary credit is the most generally used method of payment in international trade. It is reliable and safe for both sellers and buyers.
The parties concerned to a documentary credit are: the applicant (importer/buyer), the issuing bank, the advising bank, the confirming bank, if any, the nominated paying/negotiating/ accepting bank and the beneficiary(seller/exporter). The procedures for issuing an L/C are as follows.
