请教大家一个英语句子

句子是这样的:They noted that in one study ,people with household incomes of $90,000 or more were only slightly more likely to call themselves “very happy” overall than were people from households making $50,000 to $89,999.
疑问:than 后面为什么直接跟了were 难道than 后面的句子用了倒装吗,可是好像从语法角度说不通,请大家帮一下忙呀,解释一下吧!!!谢谢了!!

than是连词,你可以认为than后面省略了主语those(it),不过这句句子不是很规范,其实不用were句子意思已经很清楚了

缕顺了就是:
than people from households making $50,000 to $89,999 were likely to call themselves “very happy”

主干就是 people(..)were slightly more likely to ... than people(...)

算是than后面成分的倒装
