UC知道I can't type chinese in the mandriva2008(login in english)

I login mandriva 2008 in english, it is is disappointed that I cannot type chinese(that is why here I ask you in english), I can't set up the scim(the scim have been installed already), tell me how to change the input method???
I will appriciate you if help me.

you know chinese is a bit uncomfortable in mandriva2008. I know you method, Tools->Regional-Settings, if I change to chinese simplfied, the language of system will change!!!

Please check your computer's input method.Start-control panel-Regional and Language Options,you can set your input method in this.
So you can download sogou pingyin input method.
