not可以接在行为动词后面吗？

完全可以。
在省略句和简短回答中，和某些动词连用，这种用法随处可见。
实例如下：
Do you think he is coming tomorrow?
I believe not。

I believe not ＝I don't believe so.
如果这里用I don't believe so.那也是正确的。
动词hope, believe, imagine, suppose, guess, think等可以否定转移的动词在简短答语中，表示肯定时用so来代替宾语从句，避免重复已说过的想法。
①—Do you think she will come here?
—I think so.
②—Will it be fine tomorrow?
—I hope so.
表示否定时:
1）可以用该动词的否定结构
2）用not代替so
I don’t think so. (或 I think not.)
