Raj Malhotra (Salman Khan) and Priya (Rani Mukerji) are members of high society. They meet, get married and soon Priya falls pregnant, but loses her child due to an accident and becomes infertile. The couple conceal this fact (through the advice of the doctor), and decide to secretly look for a surrogate mother to bear Raj's child. Raj comes across Madhubala aka Madhu (Preity Zinta), who is a prostitute and agrees to have Raj's baby - she is only doing it for the money. Raj conceals the fact that Madhu is a prostitute from Priya. After some much needed grooming, Madhu meets Priya and they all leave for Switzerland together to carry out their plan.
Soon enough Madhu is pregnant with Raj's child, and he happily tells his family that Priya is expecting (though actually she is not). Madhu is harassed by Raj's business partner who asks her for sexual favours
