帮我分辨一下before与when

2.it was some time before we realized the truth
3.it wa not yet 8:00 when he arrived home.

分不清什么时候用before 什么时候用 when !!!

bofore 表示主句动作发生在从句动作之前 在。。。之前
when 用于主句和从句动作同时发生或从句动作先于或迟于主句动作 ， 当。。。
1.在黑夜降临前，我们到达了那个小城市
2.在我们知道真相前，还有一段时间
3.当他到家时，还不到八点。
因该很好理解。。。

before是在...之前
WHEN是当...时候
上面的句子翻译:1 在夜晚到来之前我们到达了小镇
3 当我们到家了还不到8点
这两个翻译你自己比较一下
