bare 裸露，敞开
lay sth bare 和lay bare sth都可以

如lay bare the truth，a plot等，揭露真相，阴谋
The director was careful not to lay the firm's plans bare. 经理小心翼翼,不说出公司的计划。

这是习惯用法。不能认为是短语动词，因为bare是adj
