reason与why和that的搭配

the reason why后面跟结果,通常前面为描述的原因

reason常用why引导定语从句。
如果不用why，也可以用for which代替。例如此句子可以改为：
There are reasons for which they have done these things.
因为有固定搭配：for ... reason 或 for the reason of ...

有时why可以用that代替引导定语从句：
What is the reason that japanese and chinese peoples eyelids are different to europeans?
日本人和中国人的眼睑跟欧洲人不同的原因是什么？

注意：这里不是同位语从句，因为why或that从句是限定reason的（关于“他们做这些事情”的原因，而不是关于其它问题的原因），并不是对reason作进一步解释的，即不是reason的具体内容。从句与先行词不处于“等同”地位，而是“限定和被限定”的关系。
