I am told he does it 为什么要这么写？

John is painting his house. I am told he does it every four years.

I am told he does it 这句里的am told 为什么不写成hava told？am told 不是被动时态吗？有没什么公式之类的啊？

整句话来看，前句表示John正在漆自己的房子。现在进行时。表示现在的一个状态。与此相适应的，后句也应一种表示现在状态的时态，那就是现在时（被动说现语态）。所以后句不能用have been told。
其公式即是前后句时态应一致，表示同一个状态。
不知清楚没有。

I am told he does it every four years.
我被告知他每四年刷一次（他的房子）

其实是省略了that
i am told （that） he does it
当that 引导宾主从句时可以省略..
