no matter how much it may cost才对.
这里很多人认为how much和cost都花钱的意思应该不能同用,cost是花费的意思,与cost同用是只要主语是物it就可以了.

从语法的角度,no matte how = however
就像no matter what = whatever
no matter who = whoever
no matter when = whenever
no matter where = wherever
no matter which = whichever

whatever 和no matter what都可以引导让步状语从句
区别是
whatever还可以引导主语从句、宾语从句等名词性从句。
You can eat whatever you like to.
这里whatever引导一个宾语从句，不能用no matter what来代替。

下面都是让步状语从句，就可以互换了。
No matter what happened, he would not mind. =Whatever happened, he would not mind.
不管发生什么，他不在意。
