petroleum 与 oil 的区别？

petroleum 指矿物油 （即石油）及制品，包括汽油 （美国用 gas），石油油精等。

OIL，泛指油，包括植物油，动物油，和矿物油等。

也就是说 Oil 包括 petroleum.

petroleum 专指石油，很正式；石油输出国组织 [Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)] 英国石油公司 [British Petroleum Co. PLC (BP)]
oil有很多意思，比如植物油动物油，油画等，石油只是它众多意思中的一个。
