呃。。最好举下例子。

①another两者以上，泛指“另一”，只能和单数可数名词连用
②一定范围内两个人/物，一个用One，另一个用the other
③一定范围内，除去一部分人/物，剩余的全部用the others=the other+n.
④泛指别的人/物时，用others,也在一定范围内，但不是全部
⑤other,不单独使用，常与复数名词连用，表其他的人/物

the other 后面可以加名词
而the others 后面一般不跟名词，表示其他很多别的。如：Boys are playing basketball. Some are in blue team. The others are in red.
