be afraid to和be afraid of 意思都差不多，但是他们的用法还是有区别的：

to 后面加 动词原形

of 后面加 动名词形式也是V.-ing

be afraid to do sth
(to后要加上动词，big dogs不是名词吗）

事实上，OF是介词，后面接动词的话肯定是-ing形式，TO后面一般情况下界动词原形，这个是普遍规律
