这故事主要讲述了一个小女孩玛丽从姿势子的而又自卑变成了一个活泼、开朗、聪明的女孩的过程。在这期间她认识了迪肯和科林。科林是一个残疾人，但他在玛丽和迪肯的帮助下和鼓励下，终于克服了困难，重见了光明。这让我感受到玛丽是一个好女孩，因为她能及时改正错误，而且她也乐于助人，当她知道科琳是一个残疾人时，她并没有嘲笑他，反而安慰他，为他做事情，和他分享快乐和烦恼。迪肯是一个心地善良的男孩，因为他能在科林复建时去给科林松送吃的，当然他也是个活泼开朗的孩子。但科林和他完全不一样，科林爱发脾气，稍不顺心就大发雷霆。但他也有优点。他是一个坚持不懈的孩子，每天坚持练习走路。他们三个好像一家人，和和睦睦的三个人高高兴兴的生活着。我也很佩服玛丽，因为他给了科林勇气、快乐和自信。
