典型题目，一楼的说法有道理，但是这么理解比较牵强，真正做题时不会想到这一点。其实这句话意思是“作为……的目的”AS后面用来修饰目的，所以一定要这么选，其实就是include purposes as a military signal, a rhythmic accompaniment for vocal performance, and a ritual instrument.用不着猜测出题人的意思，根据语言结构只有A是语法正确能让人理解的。
这么说能明白吗？
这道题我也做了.是今天的official question吧.
看一下这道题目,首先可以排除E.因为they放在这里会不恰当,这样会使得前半句子不完整,后半句子也不完整.
然后剩下的选项就是出题者的用意了.include这个动词要refer前面的一个名词,很显然,在这个句子中要refer的是purposes,不是THE gong.如果选B,C,D的话就会制代不清楚,终究是the gong include还是purposes include.
