for、because .because of .since 表原因的区别？

I went back not because of the rain, but because I was tired.

because of
是最好区分的，词性与其他三个有些不同，只能跟名词或名词短语。
because是连词,所以后边跟句子 ，因果关系比较强，能用来回答“why”

for
1.介词，(表示原因)因为, 由于, 作为…的结果
I'm pretty angry with you for not telling me.
由于你没有告诉我, 我对你很生气。
2.连词，因为, 由于
Prepare to alight, for we are almost there.
我们马上要到了, 准备下车吧。

since
因为; 既然; 由于，一般用于句首
Since it is late I shall go home now.
由于时间晚了, 我现在要回家了。

for:因为,由于.表明附加或推断的理由,引导的分句前常有逗号,for分句不放句首.

since:因为,既然.侧重主句,主句表示显然的或已知的理由.

because:因为.表直接原因,回答why的提问;一般放在主句之后,也可单独存在.

because of:后面只能跟名词性的词语.
