1.the reason why 和 the reason that/which 如果没弄清，很容易混乱，要联系句子意思。
the reason why ...意为 什么的原因，我为了图省事，把why...当成是reason的同位语，但实际上不是这样。
the reason that/which 后跟修饰reason的定语从句，比如the reason he gave us 意为 他给我们的理由。
这样看来，why和that/which都引导了reason的定语从句，就只好从句意上分析了。如果表示的是“做什么事的原因”之类，就用why；如果是“他给的原因”之类，就用that/which。

2.the reason why——这就是。。。。的原因，是针对前面的疑问或情况进行阐述，表明最直接，最主要的原因。
the reason that——原因是，表示一部分或全部原因，可以是直接的也可以是间接的次要原因。

why和that都引导了reason的定语从句，但是一般我们从句意上分析，如果表示的是“做什么事的原因”之类，就用why；如果是“事情本身引起的原因”之类，就用that。

the reason why后面跟结果,通常前面为描述的原因
