高中英语选择一道

是选b，但是为什么不选a？scarce不是也有不足的意思吗？

scarce在牛津英语字典里的解释是insufficient for the demand，也就是供不应求。而这里是weight，也就是重量，明显不是嘛。除此之外，scarce另一个常用的用法就是它的副词scarcely，也就是很少。。。，有些像是seldom的用法啦。所以这里用short。而且short有缺斤少两的意思啦。
