desirous 意思是:想要的，渴望的。
主语应为人，表达一种情感上的需要。
eg:
I am desirous that you go with me.我希望你和我一起去。
He is desious of that bike.他想要那辆自行车。
你的那个句子应该是用 desirable 吧。（understanding 想要 。。。说不通）
意为：值得拥有的，令人满意的。（意思上比vital 更弱）
desiours主语需是人，你这句主语是understanding of current issues。你换成desired就行了。
