关于there be 句型的就近原则

有各种各样的书籍
我认为是 there are a variety of books
(但另一个人认为应该是 there is a variety of books
因为就近原则 靠近a 所以用is)

我认为 应该是
there are a variety of books
就近原则` 就近的是名词吧
如果is成立
那 就是.. there is a lot of people
there is a number of people?

如果是are..
麻烦给一下详细的解释
要说服他不容易

there be 句型的就近原则就近的是后面所跟的名词性成分
就你所说的题应该用there are
这里的there are修饰的是books而不是a variety of
a variety of 则是另一个修饰books的词组
还原回来
你也可以这样理解
a variety of books are there
你不可能说a variety of books is there 吧

而且……there be句型的就近原则应该是更体现在有两者以上
比如：there is some milk and books on the table
there are some books and milk on the table

就近是就近单数或复数

这句话是说有很多书.既然很多,就应该是复数.用are.
