一道高考英语题（2004天津，32）

It was evening____we reached the little town of Winchester.答案是before,而我选的是that，填that不对么？又为什么填before?
A.that B.until C.since D.before

如果填that的话则是强调句型,句子还原以后少了(in the)evening这个成分,句子不完整..

根据我仅存的对于高中英语的记忆

如果你选择that 那么就是It was______that的强调句了

那么当去掉“it was that”仍可成为一句话

那么就成了
we reached the little town of Winchester evening.
问题出来了吧，evening前没有介词in和冠词the，这句话不完整，所以不能用that来构成强调句

如果题目是It was in the evening____we reached the little town of Winchester
你就可以选择that啦

你把其他的选项也发上来,因为光有一个BEFORE无法说明它的正确性

假设是强调句
去掉It be that句子结构仍完整
但是去掉后就成了we reached the little town of Winchester evening.句子不完整
这句子不是强调句
目前，一般情况都是时间前边有介词才是强调句，比如It was in the evening that we reached the little town of Winchester
