fill in与fill out的区别

我查到金山词霸里面这两个都有“填写”的意思，不过有什么意义上的不同呢？望达人解答。最好给出例句吧。谢谢。

fill in 跟fill out 用于表单或申请表时，都同样是“填写”的意思，区别在于具体含义的不同。

1、fill in比较偏向将小的空格填满，而fill out的范围比较大，像是整张申请表或是问卷。

例句：

①I was filling out my application form, but there was a blank that I didn't know what to fill in .

我正在填写申请表，但有一个空格我不知道怎么填。

②The teacher asked us to fill in the blanks with prepositions.

老师叫我们在空白处填入介词。

2、fill in除了“填写”还有其它含义，例如fill in for somebody，是「临时代替某人；代替某人的位子」的意思，例如：

①I'm going abroad next month, and I need someone to fill in .

我下个月要出国，我需要有人接替我的工作。

②Can you fill in for me for a few minutes? I have to run an errand.

你能代替我几分钟吗？我必须去办点事。
