The evidence led to the thief being caught。led to后面不是要跟名词吗，那为什么不是the thief一撇s being caught？
the thief's being caught是肯定正确的！但这里也可以用普通格（即一般名词形式），简称通格，不知道你学过没有
being caught本来就是ing动名词 ，caught表被动
s要来作甚？
lead to doing sth
being caught是做the thief 的补足语，和它没有隶属关系
the thief是being caught的逻辑主语，the thief和the thief's应该都可以用的
