satisfied和satisfying的一道选择题

satisfied修饰人，satisfying修饰物，这我知道，但是在这里似乎不能用satisfying吧，不然就解释成一个令人满意的微笑了，是不是有些不妥呢？
查了一下字典，两种说法都有，那到底在这里是哪个呢？

表示事物的本身怎么样，用-ing形式，表示某人对某事的某种感觉或情绪用-ed形式。
例：I am interested in the interesting story.
He is excited at the exciting news.
