Late summer
By Ernest Hemingway

In the late summer of that yearn we lived in a house in a Village that located
across the river and the plain to the mountains. In the bed of the river ther
e were pebbles and boulders, dry and white in the sun, and the water was clear
and swiftly moving and blue in the channels. Troops went by the house and dow
n the trees. The trunks of the trees too were dusty and the leaves fell early
that year and we saw the troops marching along the road and the dust rising an
d leaves, stirred by the breeze, falling and the soldiers marching find afterw
ard the road bare and white except for the leaves.

The trunks of the trees too were dusty

and the soldiers marching find afterw
ard the road bare and white except for the leaves.

(I saw)the soldiers marching find afterw

1.先来说“ the soldiers marching find afterw
ard the road bare and white except for the leaves.
2.“find...the road bare and white except for the leaves”,find sth adj.。
3.“The trunks of the trees too were dusty ”为“树干也蒙上了尘土”。

the trunks of the trees were dusty too.
