为什麼第二句不用they don't work as hard as they did 50 years ago
是不是两种表达都可以

第二句是不是可以说people don't take as much exercise as in the past

2.将they did省略掉也可以，因为主语都是people
这两个问题好像都是习惯用法问题，你就记住书上的例句就是了。语法问题有时候解释不清。
1、两种表达都可以
2、不可以。as....as是介词短语，in也是介词，as可以加代词 形容词，形容词性物主代词，副词，名词...就是不能加介词或介词短语。
