When I first arrived in Toronto, I didn't have any relatives nor friends. I felt very lonely and helpless. During those early days I didn't know anything, and I didn't even know where was the bank, for example. I couldn't even communicate with people because my English was poor. I didn't contact my family for over a week since I came here, because I didn't have a telephone, and I didn't know how to have a phone hooked to my home. I could not be more helpless at those days. For meals, I just went to the grocery store downstaires and had some bread. Later on I found a Chinese restaurant, and met a person named Rulin. She gave me many good suggestions. She showed me where I can get a cell phone, and helped me to make a phone call to my family. I am very grateful for her, because she helped me at the time I was most helpless. In the mean time, she became my first good friend in Toronto. I am sure that I treasure her friendship.
