一天我见一个外教手持拐杖,我就问:what`s wrong with you ? 他回答:I am fine . 我立即反应过来,我的问法有误,即又问:why do you hold a stick? 他答:because my leg had broken . I`m sorry to hear that .

To show that you care for him, you may ask him "What has happened to you?" or "Are you OK? "

"what`s wrong with you ?" is a rather rude question. Often when you disagree with or disprove somebody you use it.

Furthermore it is not a "stick", it is a cane, or a walking stick.

what's up (with you)?
what's the matter (with you)?
what's wrong (with you)?

what's wrong with you是通常用在不好的情况下的。比如说他做了什么让你觉得烦得事时,你就说:what's wrong with you?

What's wrong with your leg?

其实你问的问题不应该是 what's wrong with you,你应该直接问 what's wrong?

what's wrong with you相当于what's your problem。。。
