Balancing marriage and school is an issue for many students at Texas Tech and those students have differing opinions on whether marriage hinders or helps school performance.

Rachael Day, a senior human development and family studies major from Rockwall, said students should wait to get married until one or both graduate.

Day said waiting to marry until after graduation allows more time to build the relationship.

"You're more financially prepared to take on the responsibility of marriage," she said. "It is very taxing on nerves and time. There's enough stress in marriage without throwing classes into the mix."

Day said she believes many people are impatient about getting married.

"A lot of people think they are supposed to be married at this age," she said. "They don't think about the difficulties that go along with it."
