Parties to Documentary Credit Transaction
Parties that are usually involved in a documentary credit transaction are mainly the following ones:
1、 Applicant for the Credit
The applicant for the credit, also referred to as the “opener”, is normally the importer. When a business contract is concluded between an importer and an exporter, it is the former’s obligation to arrange for a credit to be opened or issued in favor of the latter.
According to UCP 500 Article 3 a.: “…Consequently, the undertaking of a bank to pay, accept and pay Draft(s) or negotiate and/or to fulfill any other obligation under the Credit, is not subject to claims or defenses by the Applicant resulting from his relationships with the Issuing Bank or the Beneficiary.”
2、 Beneficiary
A beneficiary refers to the exporter under a documentary credit transaction, because such a credit is considered to benefit the exporter by its assurance of payment to him and this payment term is usuall

跟单信用证交易的当事人通常主要包括以下几方：
一、 开证申请人
开证申请人，也被说作“opener”，通常是指进口商（买方）。一份贸易合同包括进口商和出口商，前者就有义务安排开立一个使后者享受其利益的信用证。
根据《跟单信用证统一惯例》500出版物第3条a款规定：“因此，一家银行作出付款、承兑并支付汇票或议付及／或履行信用证项下其它义务的承诺，并不受申请人与开证行之间或与 受益人之间在已有关系下产生的索偿或抗辩的制约”二、 受益人
受益人是指在跟单信用证交易下的出口商（卖方），因为这种信用证对出口商获得款项的支付有保障，而且这种支付方式通常会在出口商的要求下包含在销售合同里。根据《跟单信用证统一惯例》500出版物第3条b款规定：“受益人在任何情况下，不得利用银行之间或申请人与开证行之间的契约关系”
