On my bookshelf, there is an old, beat up copy of Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass." I cherish this copy and not just because I love me some crazy, old man, suggestive poetry.

I cherish it because when I was 15, I wrote the 30 things I wanted to do before I die on the back cover. Yes, in one of those insane adolescent moments, I decided to make a concrete list of what I wanted to achieve in life. I suspect this is because my 15-year-old self was an evil, bratty, little teenager who wanted to make her future 27-year-old self feel like an old unaccomplished loser.

Case in point, so far exactly one thing is scratched off:
