They were excited with joy at the success。be excited with 是从初中就背的搭配。但是看这个句子I am excited that our school will hold an arts festival.为什么此时excited后就可以不加介词？我也可以把后面的整个句子理解例句中的成“joy”单个名词啊

第一个句子因为用了with所以后面接名次
第二个句子后面是一个从句，当然不能用with了

with joy at the success： with=because of 表原因。
that our school will hold an arts festival.宾语从句。
