Johan Hegg (born 1973 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a vocalist of the viking metal band Amon Amarth. He joined the band in 1991. He is a dangerous looking metalhead with a 36cm long beard. He states his main influences as James Hetfield.

1988年组建，当时命名为Scum，乐队原来的风格是Grindcore（碾核）。当Johan Hegg加入后，风格转向了Melodic Death Metal（旋律死亡金属）。
1992年，乐队更名为Amon Amarth。Amon Amarth取自英国作家托尔金的小说《指环王》，Amon Amarth在小说中是指一个特定的地点，即位于中土世界的末日山。
1993年乐队发行了第一张Demo《Thor Arise》。
1994年乐队发行了第二张Demo《The Arrival of the Fimbul Winter》，限量1000张，在不到12个小时内销售一空。
2张Demo后，乐队终于签约新加坡著名极端金属公司Pulverised Records，并于1996年发行了首张MCD《Sorrow Throughout the Nine Worlds》，卖出6000张。
之后乐队签约老牌死亡金属公司Metal Blade Records，并于1998年发行了首张大碟《Once Sent from the Golden Hall》，大受欢迎。从此名扬世界！
