You may believe me, when I assure you in the most solemn manner that, so far from seeking this employment, I have used every effort in my power to avoid it, not only from my unwillingness to part with you and the family, but from a consciousness of its being a trust too great for my capacity; and I should enjoy more real happiness in one month with you at home that I have the most distant prospect of finding abroad; if my stay were to be seven times seven years. But as it has been a kind of destiny that has thrown me upon this service, I shall hope that has my undertaking it is designed to answer some good purpose…

I shall rely confidently on that Providence which has heretofore preserved and been bountiful to me, not doubting but that I shall return safe to you in the fall. I shall feel no pain from the toil or danger of the campaign; my unhappiness will flow from the uneasiness I know you will feel from being left alone. I therefore beg that you will summon your whole fort

1. its 是限定动名词短语being a trust too great的, 所以用its. being a trust too great= being too great a trust(太大的信任); 这个和后面的my undertaking it(我接受那份工作) 一个形式. 再举个例子 My falling down from the tree made her laugh.(我从树上掉下来把她逗笑了.)

2. 本质还是比较级, that 后面的句子修饰happiness. 简单点 I have more happiness here that I can find there.(我在这里比那里有更多的快乐.)

3. 首先断句, I shall hope 后面是宾语从句that has...,这里that 是主语 has是谓语.其实这里的that has 是和前面的that has(that has thrown me upon this service)并列的, 都是用来修饰desitiny的.

that has 的宾语也是个句子"my undertaking it is designed to answer some good purpose",

"my undertaking it is designed to answer some good purpose"里my undertaking it 是主语, be designed to do sth. 是个句型(注定/设计做什么事情的)

4. not boubting but "毫无疑问"的意思, 表明她很坚定的相信.

it's really not easy to fully understand this one and I think the awarded scores and the length of this letter scared all the interested people away from answering your questions.
