第一句，后面部分，received是谓语动词，no reply是宾语，就是没有收到答复的意思。no就是没有的意思啦。
第二句，前半句是状语从句，when是表示时间的关系副词，引导状语从句。the journalist是从句中的主语，failed是不及物的谓语动词，to reply是不定式作补语。后面，as是连词，表示“像，如……一样”，it是指the article，had been是过去完成式，表示write的时间是在编辑published文章之前。as it had originally been written整个是状语，表示编辑后来不得不“按原稿”发表。
NO作为副词来修饰动词RECEIVED的.
