She's not a damsel in distress
locked in a tower,
pining for a man to choose her fate.

in a fiery inferno
than kowtow to a pompous knight,
shining armor, or no.

She does need rescuing,
but not from you.
Men got her into this mess,
they won't get her out.
She wants to take her fate in her own, female hands
and turn her life around.

And she stands in defiance,
arms crossed,
looking out the window
as she ponders her situation.

Men can be jealous things,
responding to nothing,
possessive to the extreme,
choosing to lock her in a tower,
rather than hear her out.

So how will she escape her fate?
What will she do?
She knows not,
but one thing she's sure of:
it will be her doing.
