other后面接任何名词
another后面接单数，并且得是可数的
the other后面几乎也接可数。。

other后面接可数名词

比如other people,other children,other things,是指不特定/特指的其他事物或人

another是指另一个（尤指同类的），后面加可数
Here is a pencil.Where is another one?这有一支笔，那么另一支在哪呢？

the other:
1）指两者（物）中的另一者（物）：There are two cars in total. The red one doesn't work,but the other one works well.一共有两辆车，红色的坏了，但是另一辆可以开

2)形容除了所说的事物或人以外的其他事物或人，加可数名词

I don't think he is a very selfish person but the other people think so
我不认为他很自私，但是别人这么想(这里的the other是特指那些除了我以外其他那些拥有这种想法的人）

another与other的区别。
①Some students like English and other students (others) like physics.
